this particular unit has never been sold it is a new unit. there has never been processors bolted in and it has not seen any service hours. the black squares are the locations where the processors would go when installed. |

This system is a HP A Class Server called a A500-44. during production they were called "Crescendo" these replaced the A Class A180 systems. On the outside they looked essentially the same they were both 2u chassis's but the A500 was a completely different on the inside with its cableless power to mother board connection and its smp possible 64bit PA-RISC processors it was later replaced with a new rev board called Harmony and the easiest way to tell the difference in the motherboards were to look at the orientation of the processors. the Crescendo systems the processor1 sat at angle where the harmony the processors were at a right angle from each other
